RWANDA U-21 men’s national volleyball team have secured slot to semi-finals of the ongoing African championship in Nigeria, after overcoming Cameroon in a five-set thriller Friday night.
Paul Bitok’s side completed the semifinal line up at the 2018 Men's U21 African Nations Championship following their hard-fought victory over Cameroon 3-2 (25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 15-12) on day 3 of competition.
They joined, in semi-finals, three North African giants namely; Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt.
Besides Rwanda’s crucial on Friday, Tunisia also beat the hosts in straight sets 25-17, 32-30 and 25-16 to advance to the last four as Group A leaders with a maximum nine points.
In Group B, mighty Egypt overcame Morocco 3-1 (25-13, 18-25, 25-20, 25-14) while the Democratic Republic of Congo also defeated Chad in four sets (25-23, 13-25, 25-21, 25-14). However, both sides had already eliminated from the tournament after Day 2 on Thursday.
In Sunday’s semi-finals, Rwanda take on Egypt while Tunisia face Morocco.
