The second edition of the annual ‘Run Blue’ half marathon race is scheduled for November 18 in Kigali. Organisers have confirmed.

Organised by Rwanda Athletics Federation (RAF) in conjunction with Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) and Rwanda Diabetes Association (RDA), the event is aimed at raising awareness about fighting diabetes through sports.

Last year, star middle and long distance runner Salome Nyirarukundo scooped the gold medal in women’s category after using 1 hours, 12 minutes and 22 seconds while her APR Athletics Club teammate Noel Hitimana clocked 1 hour, 5 minutes and 25 second to claim gold in the men’s event.

According to the local athletics governing body, this year’s race is expected to attract about 3000 participants.
