Champions Gisagara and archrivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) go head-to-head at Amahoro Indoor Stadium for the second time in the 2018/19 national volleyball league, seeking a vital three-point haul as they battle for the pole position.

It will be a vengeance-motivated clash for Benon Mugisha’s REG side after losing the first-leg clash in a five-set thriller last November.

There’s so much more on the line than just bragging rights, and both sides know it. The two teams are entrenched as top title contenders and Saturday’s outcome can have a great impact.

Ahead of the much anticipated encounter between the country’s two biggest volleyball clubs at the moment, Gisagara top the table standings with 18 points, one ahead of second-placed REG.

“This is our time for revenge, we can’t afford to lose (to Gisagara) again,” said Mugisha, before adding that “REG players are aware of the tough task at hand, and we have prepared accordingly. We will play the game as the final.”

In separate interview, Gisagara head coach Dominique Ntawangundi told Saturday Sport his side is ready to fight a double over REG in regular league and “players are fit for the challenge” as they bid to become the first team to win the league title three times in a row since 2009.
