It will be a battle of titans as holders Patriots and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) lock horns on Friday night in Game 1 of the basketball playoff finals.

The defending champions take on hopefuls Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the best-of-seven finals after the latter brushed aside Espoir in the best-of-five semi-finals.

Henry Mwinuka’s Patriots reached the final after edging out APR in the best-of-five semi-finals.

“Every game matters in these series, but a good start matters the most. We are going into Game 1 aiming for a positive beginning,” said Mwinuka

In separate interview, REG head coach Patrick Ngwijuruvugo said “Patriots are a strong team, tactically and physically. We can’t underestimate them. We can’t afford any form of complacency because it would be a terrible mistake”.

In the women’s category, The Hoops will meet APR in the best-of-seven playoff-finals.
