Mukura head coach Olivier Ovambe has vowed to guide the club to this year’s Agaciro Development Fund Cup glory as they step up preparetions for the 2019/2020 campaign.

The 2019 edition of the annual Agaciro tourney, which brings into contention top four teams of the most recent league season, is scheduled for September 13-15 at Kigali Stadium.

Ovambe’s side will take on APR in the opener on September 13, at 3pm, before holders Rayon Sports face Police in the second match, starting at 6pm.

“We want to win the tournament, but first we will have to go past APR,” said the Cameroun-born tactician. “This (competition) is part of our preparations for next season, winning it would be a valuable boost in players’ morale and confidence.”

Winners on September 13 will meet in the final two days later, while losers will go head-to-head in the third-place playoff.

Ovambe added: “The tourney is a good opportunity for us to polish our game and build a winning mentality.”

The winner of the 2019 Agaciro Cup will pocket Rwf3 million, with the beaten finalists receiving Rwf 1.5million while the second runners-up will walk away with Rwf500,000.

Established in 2015, the Agaciro Development Fund football tournament is staged yearly in effort to raise funds towards Agaciro Development Fund, the country’s sovereign wealth fund.

Rayon beat APR 1-0 in the final to win the 2018 edition’s title.
