Thursday

APR                   1-0  Kiyovu

AS Muhanga   1-1  Bugesera

LAGUE Byiringiro was the lone scorer as APR sealed a hard fought victory over rivals SC Kiyovu to continue their impressive start to the Azam Rwanda Premier League season.

Along with second-placed Mukura, champions APR are the only unbeaten side into the 2018-19 campaign, having won seven and drawn once in their first eight games.

Byiringiro, 19, scored his third goal of the season after dribbling through a group of SC Kiyovu defenders from the right flank before unleashing a powerful strike past helpless Djihad Nzeyurwanda.

The win moved Jimmy Mulisa’s side to the top with 22 points, three clear of second-placed Mukura who have played one game less.

In another match played on Thursday, AS Muhanga and Bugesera played out a 1-1 draw at Muhanga Stadium. Adophe Hakundukize scored for Muhanga while Steve Nzigamasabo netted the equalizer for the visitors.

Meanwhile, the league action continues on Friday with Rayon Sports taking on Albert Joel Mphande’s Police at Kigali Stadium. Kick-off 3:30pm.
