Rachel’s Ramblings : All that glitters is not gold

So many of us have been fooled by physical appearances but we must learn that when someone has great looks that are out of this world, there is a problem. It might not be a major problem but at the end of the day, a problem is still a problem! If he looks like a model, walks like one, talks with a voice you just want to play over and over and has a smile that could make metal melt, then there is a problem. He is probably a heavy drinker and has closed every bar he’s stepped foot in! If he’s clean in that area then he’s got to be emotional—too emotional. He will cry at every wedding, funeral, party and even the day he is given a promotion. His favorite movie is probably ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ because the ending was just so meant to be! Women like a guy who can handle things. What I mean is he doesn’t have to be necessarily strong, although that would definitely be a bonus, but he can be a man when she needs him to be. If thieves stormed the house, she needs to know that he will protect her instead of hiding behind the couch. If he is not a weeper then the man has got to be the king of snoring! You could leave him in bed, get on a plane and fly off to the Bahamas and still hear his snore tormenting your ears—so much for perfect. It is literally impossible to find someone with ‘the whole package’. No one will hold it against a man to not know how to do any chores but as women, it is expected of us to naturally know at least a thing or two. I am sure every man would want a beautiful woman beside him. She’s tall, graceful, well educated and easy on the eyes but when it comes to home issues she can’t even boil water without a cook book! Or even with her educated ways, has never learnt how to speak to people and be polite. All I’m trying to say here is don’t go for what your eyes tell you because looks can be deceptive. Annoyingly good looking men are usually Casanovas because every girl sees what you see. Go for what your heart tells you, that one will always be honest with you. You could find a reasonably good looking man and even when you discover his flaws, you won’t be shocked because at least your eyes are open to see that he is human. But when his looks and most of the acts he showcases in public have given you such high expectations, you are bound to be disappointed because your eyes are blinded by his ‘kwirata’.
