Children should be keen on identifying and reporting any health problems to their parents and doctors in order to get treatment.
However, there are situations where children keep quiet when they fall sick due to personal reasons which may include the fear of taking medicine or getting an injection.
“Whenever you realize changes in your body temperature, we should tell our parents,” said Emmanuel Mugisha, 12, at Kigali Harvest Primary School, P.6.
Children are sometimes exposed to situations that make them sick.
“I try to avoid dirty places whenever I am playing with my friends because I know its one way of becoming sick,” Mugisha said.
Claudine Uwamahoro, 11, P.5, Kimihurura primary school said keeping the body physically fit can also make the body free form minor infections.
“I love sports and I jog in the evening to stay physically fitn and my teacher said that exercising prevents minor infections,” said Annet Uwamahoro, a pupil at Kimihurura Primary School.
She said that also eating well is what has always helped her to continue exercising.
