Police vs Rayon Sports - 3:30pm

Midfielder Amin Mwizerwa scored the lone goal of the game as AS Kigali held their nerves to snatch maximum points against Marines in the Turbo King National Football League match yesterday at Umuganda stadium.

Marines gave everything to the match, but in the end they were overpowered by the tact and class of Andre Gasambungo’s side, whose win propelled them to third position with 34 points from 17 matches.

AS Kigali are now just two points behind second-placed and defending champions Rayon Sports, who could move level with table leaders APR with a win in today’s clash against fifth-placed Police FC at Stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo.

It was AS Kigali’s first of the two rescheduled league matches since qualifying for CAF Confederation Cup for the first time after eliminating Burundian side, Academie Tchite last weekend.

Rayon Sports, who have lost twice to Police this season, a 2-1 in the league first round and another 2-1 defeat in the Ombudsman Cup final, go into today’s match without key midfielder Leon Uwambajimana who is serving a one-match suspension; Alipe Majyambere and Aphrodis Hategikimana who are nursing knee injuries.

Police coach Sam Ssimbwa will also miss striker Jaqcues Tuyisenge, who is serving a four-match ban and defender Amani Uwilingiyimana who is suspended.

Out of the last 14 matches between the two teams, Rayon Sports have won five against four wins for Police. Five have ended in draws.  Strikers Jerome Sina for Police and Rayon Sports’ Meddie Kagere will be coming up against their former employees.

Probable starting line-ups:

Police FC: Alex Ganza, Michel Gasozera, Frederic Ndaka, Fabrice Twagizimana, Gabriel Mugabo, Jean d’Amour Uwimana, Peter Kagabo, Mohammed Mutuyimana, Jerome Sina, Moussa Habimana and Innocent Habyarimana.

Rayon Sports: Jean Luc Ndayishimiye, Karim Nizigiyimana, Abouba Sibomana, Jimmy Mukubya, Arafat Serugendo, Hussein Sibomana, Djamal Mwiseneza, Robert Ndatimana, Meddie Kagere, Cedric Amissi and Fuadi Ndayisenga.
