LEADERS APR notched a routine 3-0 win over struggling Marines FC in a national football league match played yesterday at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu District.

Andrew Buteera, Jean Baptist Mugiraneza and Michel Ndahinduka ‘Bugesera’ scored the goals for the army side, which moved them to 33 points, five ahead of second-placed Rayon Sports.

The reigning league champions travel to Gicumbi to take on the home team, which is handled by former Blues’ coach Jean-Baptiste Kayiranga this afternoon.

Andre Casambungo’s third-placed AS Kigali moved level on 28 points with Rayon Sports after registering a slim 1-0 away win at bottom side Amagaju in Nyamagabe.

There were also wins for Sam Ssimbwa’s Police FC in fourth place over second from bottom Esperance 2-1 at Mumena stadium as well as Emmanuel Ruremesha’s fifth-placed Espoir, who won 1-0 at home to Etincelles. Both Police and Espoir have 27 points.

Elsewhere, Cedric Kaze’s under-performing Mukura Victory Sports picked up three massive points after 3-1 win against third from bottom side AS Muhanga. The win ended a run of four consecutive matches without a win for the Huye-based outfit.
