GS Rambura vs Police 10am

RUHANGO-based ES Kigoma secondary school side is eyeing a home win against title contenders Gicumbi when the two teams faceoff in the ongoing handball league.
ES Kigoma, who beat fellow student side GS Rambura 39-23 last Sunday, are determined to surprise the 2007 league champions at ES Byimana handball court in Ruhango, South Province, starting at 10am.
However, the youthful side, which is fourth on the seven-team table standing with 23 points, will go into today’s game without their two key players; Shafi Niyonkuru (ulcers) and Claude Kazungu (malaria).
Gicumbi lead the table with 30 points, two points ahead of second-placed APR, who beat National University of Rwanda 30-20 on Saturday. Reigning champions Police are third on 27 points with three games left. APR has one game left; Gicimbi has two, while ES Kigoma still has four games in hand.
“We have to win all the remaining matches, starting on Sunday against Gicumbi in order to stand a chance of winning the league title,” ES Kigoma head coach Sylvestre Medal Shema said on Friday.
His opposite number of Gicumbi, Ebenezel Murenzi seems to have other ideas, “The league has entered a crucial stage where every point counts and we must win on Sunday to maintain our place at the top of the table and also increase our chances of winning the title.”
