Time trial cycling race set for today

Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) has organized the one day ‘Trail Race’ which will be held in Free Trade Zone in Gasabo District today.

Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) has organized the one day ‘Trail Race’ which will be held in Free Trade Zone in Gasabo District today.

According to Ferwacy Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Murenzi, the main objective of the race is to train the local riders how to compete in Trial races (Race against watch). “It is good for the riders to compete in as many competitions as possible because it helps them to raise their level of competitiveness,” Murenzi said.

He added, “Our target is to continue to organize more competition locally which will help the riders to gain confidence and learn more about the sport.”

All local clubs are expected to take apart in the event and each team allowed having not less than four riders or above six.

Local clubs expected to take part in the race include; Benediction Club, Rapide, Satellite, Les Amis Sportifs, Fly Club, Cycling Club for All, Kiramuruzi Cycling team, Cine Elmay and Abahizi.

Last month, Ferwacy organized a Kigali-Rusumo race which was won by Team Rwanda rider Bonaventure Uwizeyimana.
