However, the latest in the queue is the Window Vista. It is the major update to the Windows family of operating systems, after a long gap of around five years.

The operating system has an improved graphical user interface. The appearance of a window, desktop, start button, start menu, taskbar, everything has got a new look. Now, the window in Windows Vista looks similar to that in Mac OSX.
The start button has been modified to give a new look with the word ‘start’ removed.

Only the new Windows logo appears in the start button. Start menu has also got a new look. While browsing the net without any security measures, it provides a high level of security measures. It is also the latest version of Internet Explorer which is version 7.0 that provides a higher degree of security to the system, as well as, the operating system environment.

It also offers parental controls to deny kids access to certain programmes especially, the games. This keeps track of all activities done by the child. With its improved search, you will get the search result as and when you type some letters of a particular word. With Windows Vista, one can also add additional time zones, to show the time of some other country.

Windows Vista has got an inbuilt tool called photo gallery to manage digital photos with cability for photo modification. It has also an ability to show previews of movie files. Despite the massive advantages, there are some disadvantages as well.

Windows Vista requires superb computer to install since it consumes a lot more resources than its predecessor windows XP.

There is also a problem of extracting  the old system if you are to install the new one. Therefore installation of Vista requires checking the compatibility of system components. Some manufacturers will still provide Vista support for the oldies by providing the latest drivers for the same. In general, Windows Vista is a total different world, with new experience and great performance.
