KIGALI - Seattle University, a Jesuit Catholic university in the United States, is currently honouring victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi as a prelude to the 16th commemoration of the genocide.

The university is screening documentaries and stories from people whose lives were affected by the Genocide.

According to the universities` website, the exercise which started last week will run until May 29.

Photographs and stories are products of photographer Jonathan Torgovnik, who has been in the country several times and interacted with women and their children who gave testimonies of how the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi affected their lives.

Torgovniks` work has taken centre stage of the exhibition and is open to the public as well showing the role of education towards the development of Rwanda.

“The exhibition is a powerful example of artistic expression spotlighting important social justice issues that are relevant around the world,” said David Powers, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University.
