Anti-AIDS boxing event on today

After spending the last 12 months without a single competition, the local boxing federation has today organized a one-day tournament, dubbed “Anti-Aids boxing tournament” at Amahoro indoor stadium. The much anticipated tournament, under the auspices CNLS, the national commission to fight against Aids, is scheduled to attract 26 boxers.

The event is the first on the national boxing calendar, which will be followed by inter-clubs and the national championship in the coming months.

According to Gashugi Kananura, national technical director, the tournament will be used to select the provisional national team that will start preparations for the World Youth Championship in April in Azerbaijan.

The 26 pugilists will come from the five active local clubs including Remera, Inkuba, Kimisagara, Rafiki, Musanze and ETM.
