Ladies and cars; the statements they make

With the ever growing Rwandan economy, women have not been left out of the good economic times we are experiencing. This is evident when you take a walk along our roads, where you will come across various ladies driving a wide range of cars. These cars being driven by women say a lot about the drivers. They say that the way you dress communicates your personality, but what they forget to tell you is that the car you drive probably says a lot more about you. Here are some of the cars that are common on the Rwandan roads, and the information they give about the lady sitting behind the steering wheel. Toyota Vitz / Clavia / Duet: This car has come to represent handy and reliable to the women, just like their purses. A woman driving this car is cost-conscious and is more concerned with getting from point A to B without having to stick an umbrella in her bag. Convenience is the motivation for buying this ‘shopping basket’. Subaru: This lady is probably in her 30s having achieved middle level management in her career. She sees herself as a successful human being, not just as a woman. The main reason she drives a fast car is to prove that women are not the weaker sex. Volkswagen Golf / Jetta / Passat: She loves power and safety all in the same box. German cars are famous for being strong and if she had more money, she could probably try her hand at rallying. A lady driving any of these models exudes sophistication without necessarily attracting attention to herself. BMW X5/ Mercedes Benz/ Harrier/ Lexus: You don’t get to drive a luxury car in your first job. She probably is a big shot. She has worked hard to be where she is, and may have no qualms walking all over the men. After all, in her reasoning, she has earned it. She could also be a wife to a politician or one of those corporate ladies. When other motorists worry to death over escalating fuel costs, her concern is to get home in time for the latest soap opera on TV. Toyota 110 / Nissan Sunny: This is definitely her first car. It’s advisable not to get too close to her on the road, since her driving could be wanting. She is elated about making the great leap from pedestrian to motorist. She is a darling to the mechanics as she is too naive. Mini vans: This lady has a great appetite for family life. Gravitating towards her 40s, she possibly has a large family and she wants the family to travel in comfort. She cares more about the welfare of others. Sports car: She probably has a rich dad. This woman likes speed and power. Her dominance and control issues make her privately insecure and publicly intolerant. It’s either her way or the speedy highway.
