Public order vs. gender equality

Let us put focus on recent incidences where people have been caught in adulterous or illicit sex acts.  We have been hearing such cases for a while. Of course the authorities carry out investigations.

The issue of concern in such cases is that more often than not, only one party is exposed while the other is protected. “Is it in public order to expose one party and protect the other party in such a case?”

It is so common that always in matters involving a man and a woman, the man is always exposed to the public but surprisingly the woman is protected.

May be one can base on the newest case of a certain guy caught in one of the lodges with a student(s) having a sexual affair.

This guy was paraded on television and I guess many people got to see him. Just imagine that shame! I doubt if after such an ordeal, he will easily repeat his offence.

So how come the other party to the offence was let off scot free. Anyway since they were students, then they may be excused. But somehow this seems to be the general trend.

Think about it. In that case, if the woman had also been exposed, she could have also felt small and undignified in the same way like the guy who was exposed.

I think by also exposing the young girl that could serve as a punishment because she will become so scared and ashamed, hence avoiding being found in that situation again.

By protecting her, it creates a situation whereby she thinks that she will always be protected. Thus repeating such offences becomes the norm, because she lacks that sense of fear.

Then there is the issue of gender equality, in such cases. Protecting the lady, defeats that logic. The importance of gender equality in social life is for both sexes betterment, not only for women, but also for men.

I am of opinion that it is necessary to give affirmative action to ladies to show them that they are as responsible as men in all spheres of life.

I discussed this issue with somebody who concurred that such issues defeat the logic of gender equality. “No one is against the protection of ladies, only if it is in public interest”.

However, he added perhaps in one way or another, the issue of exposing them would let them think twice thus stopping such habits.
