I think the recent training of police officers in disaster management is good. According to the story in this paper, fifteen of them underwent this training in the Southern and Western provinces.
This is good because in case of emergency, they are the first people we think of. They must therefore have the skills on how best they can save us.
I remember the recent fires that hit our neighbouring country Kenya; disaster management was said to be lacking. Such training is very important, and in fact should be extended to the wider society.
Everyone needs to have some basic skill to enable them respond better in case of emergency, whether at home or at work.
