Police in Gasabo District, Kigali, have recovered a car that was stolen a fortnight ago in Nyarugenge District.
The saloon car, registration number RAB 016U, was stolen on March 6 from a parking lot at Muhima Hospital where the owner, Grace Boramungu, had gone for a medical check-up.
One person has been arrested in connection with the theft and is currently helping with investigations.
The vehicle was recovered in Masezero Cell, Gisozi Sector, where it was parked.
The suspect, names withheld, confessed to the crime, according to Police.
In the confession, the suspect said, together with his accomplice who is still at large, he had already finalised arrangements to take the car out of the country, where they had secured a buyer.
Boramungu thanked Rwanda National Police for recovering his vehicle.
“I am happy that my vehicle has been recovered and thank Police for the successful search,” Boramungu said.
The majority of the vehicles stolen in Kigali are sold in DR Congo.
