Parents critical in inculcating a savings culture

Editor, kids don’t come into this world knowing how to save money, we as parents have to teach them. If you’re not good at it, raise your game. Saving money doesn’t need a finance degree. All you need is to have personal goals and working towards achieving them.

Editor,

I thank The New Times for its financial literacy campaign which specifically targets our children.

Kids don’t come into this world knowing how to save money, we as parents have to teach them. If you’re not good at it, raise your game. Saving money doesn’t need a finance degree. All you need is to have personal goals and working towards achieving them.

When you understand your own personal values and goals in life, and you understand why they’re important to you, you can help your kids figure out what their personal values and goals are in life. This, in turn, will help you teach your children about the importance of saving so that they can achieve their lifetime goals.

And it is never too late to start teaching kids the value of money, but the earlier the better.
