Amagaju Football have received a financial boost from its main sponsors, Nyamagabe District, which has injected an extra Rwf20 million above the team’s budget during the last season.
The team will now use Rwf90 million, as opposed to Rwf70 million it used in the 2012/13 season.
Coach Abdul Mbarushimana’s side will begin their campaign against the 2013 Peace Cup winners AS Kigali on the opening day at Stade de Kigali.
The league returns on September 28.
According to club chairman Jean Pierre Nshimiyimana, they expect the team to do a lot better in the upcoming season than last season.
“The budget is not as big as for the Kigali clubs but with support of fans, we hope the team will be able to achieve our set targets,” Nshimiyimana said recently.
He noted, “We have come up with what we believe is a sufficient budget for the upcoming season, and we want the team to get everything they want in order to achieve our first target of staying in the league next season.”
Under coach Abdu Bizimana aka Baken, who has since joined Etincelles, Amagaju finished in ninth position last season, but the new man in charge, Mbarushimana, has been tasked to aim for a top six finish in the 2013/14 season.
