This year’s Peace Cup finalists AS Muhanga have earmarked Rwf65 million for the 2013/14 Primus National Football League season which gets underway on September 21.
The funds will be raised by Muhanga District, the team’s sponsors.
The money will go into administrative costs.
AS Muhanga club chairperson Celirse Gasana said, “We hope the budget will help the club to finish in a good position and possibly win some silverware.”
AS Muhanga are bidding to put up their best run in years, according to head coach Ali Bizimungu.
“The team is in good shape, form and mood to compete at top level. I have a promising young squad and we are looking forward to the next season,” said Bizimungu, who recently extended his contract with the club until 2015.
Last season, AS Muhanga finished in 11th position in the national league with 27 points after winning six, drawing nine and losing eleven matches.
And mid this year, AS Muhanga lost 3-0 to AS Kigali in the final of the 2012/13 Peace Cup against Malaria.
