RWANDA’s top golf professional players Jean Baptiste Hakizimana and Emmanuel Ruterana leave for Kampala today to compete in the 2013 Uganda Golf Open, scheduled for September 4-7 at Entebbe golf club.

Ruterana, the country’s number two, will be making his ninth consecutive appearance at the regional tournament since 2005.

According to organisers, the four-day tournament is expected to attract a field of over 200 amateur and professional golfers from around the region and beyond.

The 30-year old Ruterana is eyeing his first Uganda Open title after finishing second in 2010 behind his compatriot and current Rwanda’s number one, Hakizimana.

“We’re leaving for the tournament tomorrow (today) morning by road and the competition will start on Wednesday,” Ruterana told Times Sport on Sunday.

The 71st edition of Uganda Golf Open is sponsored by Tusker Malt Lager at the tune of 100 million Ugandan Shillings.
