People performance Group, a Ugandan-based human resource services firm, has opened shop in Kigali as part of its bigger plans to establish presence across the East African Community.

Larry Holm, the chief executive officer, told Business Times in Kampala that the firm was attracted to Rwanda because of the country’s fast-growing economy.

“We are proud to have opened an office in Rwanda...it is great to be a part of the country’s amazing growth and the opportunities that come with it,” Holm said.

He noted that people are the most important asset of companies, “where if one has the right people, they will gains an edge over competitors”.

“You can have the best academic papers in the world and not be able to deliver results,” he says. “What determines high performance is your behaviour. Ones behaviour is determined by their competencies, professional as well as personal.”

The firm handles four business areas; HR consulting, training and teambuilding, outsourcing of staff and test tools like certification in personality tests. In May 2012, the company launched an Internet jobsite, kazijobs.com, where hundreds of jobs are posted every week.
