Kerala Hunters Cricket Club (KHCC) shocked Challengers Cricket Club by 8 wickets to qualify for the quarter-finals of the ongoing UAE EXCHANGE & XPRESS MONEY T20 tournament.

Pravith Presannaraj scored 70 runs not out in their chase past CCC’s 146 runs.

“I am happy that we have qualified for the quarter-finals,” Presannaraj remarked after the win.

In the afternoon, Impala Titans Cricket Club (ITCC) saw their hopes of qualifying for quarter-finals wane after they lost to Kigali Cricket Club (KCC) by 35 runs in a closely contested game. Ajay Saini (52 runs) was the top scorer for KCC as they posted a total score of 179/8.

ITCC’s chase started on a good note after Fiston Nsengiyumva (59 runs) and Audifax Byiringiro (27 runs) had a good partnership of over 70 runs but other wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

KCC’s win makes them only the third team to win a game in group B. This means the group is still open as no one has secured a place in the last eight. The next game in the group between Right Guards CC and Telugu CC at the weekend will certainly determine the team to qualify.

In the women’s category played on Saturday, Queens of Victory Cricket Club (QVCC) made history in their game against Kigali Angels Cricket Club (KACC).

QVCC batted first and scored 234 runs the highest total score for any women team in Rwanda. Dianne Bimenyimana scored 79 runs not out. In reply KACC were all out for only 71 runs. Jeanne D’Arc Akigeneye and Rapheal Ganimana took 3 and 2 wickets respectively for Queens of Victory.

“It was my lucky day as I was dropped twice and I went on to score 79 runs not out,” said Bimenyimana, who was later declared the player of the match.
