The third edition of Primus Guma Guma Super Star, (PGGSS 3), moves to elimination phase tomorrow at the Kigali Serena hotel, as the 11 finalists tussle it out to secure a place in the finals.At least six contestants will be booted out of the Bralirwa-sponsored music competition tomorrow evening, leaving only five to continue in the competition. Competing for this year’s PGGSS grand prize are Dream Boys (1), Bull Dog (2), Riderman (3), Christopher (4), Urban Boys (5), Kamichi (6), Eric Senderi (7), Danny Nanone (8), Fireman (9), Knowless (10) and Mico Prosper (11). The public will vote via SMS and voting ends on Saturday evening. To keep your favourite artiste in the competition, dial the contestant’s number and send to 4343.An independent audit firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers has been enlisted to oversee the entire voting process, to ensure that votes are conducted in a transparent way. Now it is up to the public to choose who will stay in the competition.The third season of Primus Guma Guma Super Star started on March 4, 2013, and the roadshows were organised in different districts of the country as part of the competition. Different from the first and second editions, the third season featured live road shows in Kigali, Musanze and concluded last Saturday in Rubavu district, with a panel of three music experts onboard to determine the best contestants. Meanwhile, throughout the road shows, all the contestants were at their vocal best on stage, with some adding a bit of creativity to spice up their stage presence.The winner of PGGSS 2013 will walk away with Rwf24 million. Rwf6 million will be handed to him/ her in cash, while the rest will be handed over in form of a salary and support in other activities including an album launch.PGGSS is Rwanda’s first and only nationwide music contest that brings together all professional music stars competing to become a Primus Guma Guma Super Star. During the competition, artistes are requested to perform their own compositions.The first season that premiered in 2011 crowned Tom Close as Rwanda’s first Primus Guma Guma Super Star. The second season was won by King James.
