The five-time women’s football league champions AS Kigali are set to play against clubs from Burundi and Uganda as part of their pre-season preparations.

The friendly matches are set to be played in December this year and January 2014.

The Kigali city sponsored AS Kigali who retained the women’s league title for the fifth time is currently on a two-month post season break.

Head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu told Times Sport recently, “After winning the league title unbeaten, our sponsors (Kigali City) agreed to facilitate us in playing friendly matches with other clubs from the region,”

“You can never know how strong your team is if you don’t engage your players against different competitive teams. By doing so, I hope players will gain experience and exposure and we will get to understand how women football can be improved,” added Nyinawumuntu.

Nyinawumuntu is also set to guide Solidarity Academy to the Feassa regional games which will be held in Lira, Northern Uganda from August 20-30.

Most of her players feature for Solidarity Academy and their aim is to win the regional title following last year’s gasp that saw them miss the title in the final.

AS Kigali won the title this season after winning nineteen matches and drawing once against first runners-up and Gisozi-based Winners.
