He is Rwanda’s most renowned rapper and has shared the stage with some of the biggest artistes in the music business, such as Shaggy, the late Lucky Philip Dube, Koffi Olomide, Sean Kingston and Jason Derulo.  Jay Polly will now work his magic on the DundaStar grand finale concert slated for July 20 at the Petit Stade Remera.

The show is scheduled to start at 5pm.

The 24-year-old star, born Joshua Polly Tuyishime, has over 24 singles to his name. He has won Salax and Ijoro Ry’urukundo Music Awards and came second in the second edition of the annual Primus Guma Guma Superstar competition.

Jay Polly expressed his anticipation for the concert saying, “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to perform on the day. My fans should expect a great performance. I have a new number of new songs I plan to perform at the DundaStar grand finale.”

“We chose Jay Polly to grace the DundaStar grand finale because he is a talented and popular artiste. He is a great entertainer and we’re sure that he’ll deliver an absolutely stunning performance,” said Robert Ndungutse, one of the organisers of the Dundastar Talent Search.

Dundastar is a singing and dancing talent competition that seeks to identify raw talent among Rwanda’s youth. In its first season, the competition was launched in November 2012, and proceeded to hold auditions in Gasabo, Nyarugenge and Kicukiro districts.

The auditions were then followed by live performances which also doubled as elimination shows. Preparations for the Grand Finale Concert are currently in high gear and the finalists will perform to a live audience and a panel of judges to identify the best new talent in the singing, dancing and dance-group categories.

The competition is sponsored by the National Youth Council, MTN, The New Times and Rwandair.
