Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher died Monday morning after suffering a stroke, her spokesman said.

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher died Monday morning after suffering a stroke, her spokesman said.

Thatcher, 87, a conservative and close ally of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, led Britain from 1979 to 1990.

 

She was the longest-serving prime minister in the 20th century.
