The employees of Caritas Rwanda, a Catholic Church funded charity, yesterday, donated Rwf20 million towards the Agaciro Development Fund.

Thaddée Ntihinyurwa, the archbishop of Kigali Diocese, handed the cheque to Ronald Nkusi, the director of External Finance Unit at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

During the handover in Kigali, Ntihinyurwa said that the contribution came from staff members of Caritas-Rwanda.

“At Caritas-Rwanda the word Agaciro is of great value. This is why we gathered this money to help the self-dependency of our country and we want to be part of the fight against poverty in our country, it is a key pillar of the church,” Archbishop Ntihinyurwa said.

He urged the Caritas employees to rally others for the cause, saying it is through such selflessness actions that Rwandans will be uplifted from poverty.

“Nothing is impossible when people are committed to solving their problems,” Nkusi said.

So far, he said, more than Rwf26 billion has been raised toward the Agaciro Development Fund.
