Uwamahirwe brace helps AS Kigali to stay top

AS Kigali skipper Shadia Uwamahirwe netted twice to help the unbeaten champions beat Kamonyi 2-1 and stay top of the national women football league on Sunday.

AS Kigali skipper Shadia Uwamahirwe netted twice to help the unbeaten champions beat Kamonyi 2-1 and stay top of the national women football league on Sunday.

Uwamahirwe gave the three-time league champions the lead in the first half before the home side Kamonyo equalized through Mediatrice Uwamahoro.

However, Uwamahirwe rescued her side from dropping two valuable points for the first time this season with a stoppage time winner. The win maintains AS Kigali’s unbeaten record and takes them to 24 points after eight rounds of matches.

Elsewhere, former champions APR humiliated Imirasire 11-1 to move into second place and close the gap on AS Kigali to five points. Les Lionnes drew 0-0 with ESIR 0-0, who dropped from second to third place.

In other matches Urumuri lost to Bugesera 0-4 to remain bottom of the table without any points.
