After officiating the 2013 Africa Nations Cup finals in South Africa, Rwanda’s FIFA/CAF assistant referee Felicien Kabanda (L) will handle today’s Super Cup match between Egypt’s Ahly and Congolese side Leopards at Borg El-Arab stadium in Egypt’s port city of Alexandria.

Kabanda is the second assistant referee and he will work alongside Angessom Ogbamariam from Eritrea and Papa Gassam Bakary from Gambia, who will be centre man. The match commissioner is Jawula Mahamudu Nuru from Gambia.

Having started his profession handling local matches in 1998, Kabanda was promoted to Fifa/Caf international assistant referee in 2002.

He spent some good time officiating matches within the Cecafa region as well continental competitions until 2010. Last year, he officiated at the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Egypt’s Ahly recently received security permission to play the African Super Cup at Borg El-Arab stadium in Alexandria with their fans in attendance.

Egyptian security refused to authorise the attendance of fans since Port Said football disaster that left more than 70 killed last February.

Ahly are chasing their fifth African Super Cup title and their first since 2009 when they defeated Tunisian side Club Sfaxien 2-1 in Cairo.
