AS Kigali are still optimistic on winning their fourth national women league title despite suffering a 1-2 loss to arch rivals APR mid this week at Ferwafa turf.

After the defeat, Coach Grace Nyinawumuntu said, “We have to win the remaining fixtures to the end of the season to be able to retain the title.”

“We need to be more careful and win the remaining matches if we are to claim this season’s league title,” added Nyinawumuntu.

AS Kigali sits on the league summit with 46 points, two adrift rivals APR. They will play Urumuri today at Ferwafa turf before winding up their season with Inyemera next Wednesday and Imirasire on August 4.

Tomorrow, APR play Les Lionnes; the Winners face Esir; Bugesera take on Remera Rukoma while Imirasire host Rambura.

APR’s forward Fatimah Kankindi leads the scorers’ sheet with 17 goals, one ahead of Shadia Uwamahirwe from AS Kigali.
