Rivals AS Kigali and APR face off in women league

NATIONAL women football league champions AS Kigali take on archrivals APR this afternoon in a rescheduled fixture at Ferwafa artificial turf in Remera.

With two rounds of matches to go, the champions lead the table standing with 46 points, three ahead of second placed APR after 16 matches, and a win today would all but guarantee them a fourth successive title.

The match was initially supposed to be played early this month but was postponed due to the absence of some of AS Kigali players were part of the select U-17 team that took part in the Cleveland (USA) festivals that were held July 5-8.

Elsewhere today, Remera-Rukoma takes on ESIR in another rescheduled fixture in Musanze.

Apart from AS Kigali and Remera-Rukoma, the other teams, including the 2008 champions APR have played 17 matches.

The Winners FC are third on the table with 38 points, followed by Remera-Rukoma on 35, Inyemera on 33 points are in fifth position. Les Lionnes (28pts), Bugesera (23pts), ESIR (15pts), Irambura (9pts), Imirasire (6pts) and Urumuri (3ps), follow each in that particular order.
