FORMER league champions Rayon Sports have denied reports linking them with Jean Claude Iranzi, who has run out of contract with champions APR FC.
In recent days, Iranzi, who is yet to agree a deal with the army side, has been linked with Rayon Sports, who were reported to be willing to sign the attacking midfielder.
Iranzi has also been linked with Sudanese side Ahly Shandy and KCCA of Uganda.
However, Rayon Sports president Theogene Ntampaka said yesterday that his club has not talked to the player but should the technical staff feel they need a player like Iranzi, he will try to push for a transfer.
“We have not talked to the player although we are looking to bring in top quality players who can make Rayon Sports stronger in the coming season,” Ntampaka told Times Sport.
He added: “It’s obvious that a player like him (Iranzi) would be linked to us, but if the coach says he needs him, then we will see what to do.”
Rayon Sports, who lost midfielder Djamal Mwiseneza to rivals APR, are now trying to convince Aphrodis Hategikimana to stay after the experienced midfielder expressed his desire to leave the Nyanza-based club due to lack of enough playing time.
The Cecafa Kagame Cup 2014 quarter-finalist, are still trying to lure Ugandan striker Brian Omony to join the club ahead of the start of the season on September 20.
Coach Jean Francois Losciuto is trying to build a strong team in preparation for what is going to be a busy season, which includes the national league, Peace Cup and Caf Confederation Cup.
