NYARUGENGE - No one will distract the Anglican Church from the original doctrines of the Bible, the head of the Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini has said.
He was addressing reporters yesterday at a press conference held at St. Etienne Main Guest House. He called the conference to brief reporters on his return from Jerusalem, Israel, where he and eight other bishops of the Anglican Church attended an anti-gay gathering.
Kolini noted that the Anglican Church of Rwanda together with churches in the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON), resolved never to allow homosexuality to prevail in the church.
“In the Jerusalem Anglican Conference, we resolved to dismiss homosexuality teachings in the church by sticking to the original creeds of the Bible,” Kolini said, and added: “Many have tried to destroy the original Bible teaching but failed. You can’t destroy the word of God and escape.”
He said the Anglican Church of Rwanda will never regret their stance on homosexuality. According to the Church’s publicist, Grace Mugabe, the church has been spearheading evangelisation the world over.
“The Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda has preached the message of hope the world over and saved souls of many Americans. It gave sanctuary to many American clergy and Christians who severed ties with the Episcopal Church of America (ECUSA) because of homosexuality,” he said.
The American breakaway faction is under the umbrella of the Anglican Mission in Americas (AMIA) which has over 140 churches on American soil.
