Right Guards were handed a thorough beating by break-away side Young Tigers after a 100-run defeat in Sunday’s Sulfo league tie.

Despite the return of Henry Zzizinga (ex-captain), the club faltered at crucial stages of the game to gift table leaders an easy victory.

After a shaky start, Jean Claude Siboniyo steadied Young Tigers’ ship with a well-worked (44). Eric Dusabemungu (24) and Eric Dusingizimana (15) also had vital contributions to help the club to 189.

In response to this target, Right Guards could not even cross the century mark after stuttering to 89 runs all out. Emma Byiringiro (25) top scored for Guards.

On top of bagging winning points (four points); Young Tigers also walked away with a bonus point after an outstanding bowling performance from the club’s talisman Andre Kayitera.

Kayitera, who scored just one run swayed through the middle and tail order to finish off with (5/8); his best bowling figures this year.

Sunday’s loss means that Right Guards are yet to win a league game after losing their first tie to Indorwa.

On the other hand, Young tigers moved to 16 points, widening their lead at the top of the table standing by seven points.
