Sunday night was one of the most exciting nights I have ever seen. It all started when Kigali’s favourite disco joker, DJ Kadir joined Planet Club, and duped club-goers that it was his birthday.
His intentions weren’t clear, but what is apparent is that he managed to attract mammoth attention from his fans, who abandoned the dance floor to celebrate with him at the club’s bar.
The DJ, whose real name is Kadir Muhamad, was in a group of Kigali’s celebrities, including DJ Mat (Matovu), and Contact FM’s Cedric.
As the crew approached the club’s bar, one of his close friends yelled on top of his lungs: “DJ Kadir isn’t so little anymore! He’s celebrating a big birthday.”
The prank “birthday” was celebrated at Planet Club, one of Kigali’s hottest discotheques located on the premises of Kigali Business Centre (KBC).
When it comes to birthdays, Kadir does it bigger and better even if it’s not real, but it is believed that his real birthday is in September.
After seizing a huge crowd, DJ Kadir housed everyone with drinks of their choice, before he destroyed himself with tequila shots.
Throughout the night, Kadir and his crew danced along to songs by Kanye West and other hip hop acts.
The celebration was characterized by a drinking spree, laughter, hot girls, dancing and a tequila drink competition, courtesy of the “Birthday Boy”. What more could his fans ask for?
At one point, the half Rwandan half Ethiopian took to the stage with some girls and pulled out a few of his dance strokes.
The party thinned out after 2:30 a.m., but DJ Kadir and his friends stayed dancing and laughing until almost dawn.
“This night was exactly how I envisioned it,” Kate Uwase told The New Times.
