La Jeunesse 0-2 Nyanza
[Mumena]
AS Kigali 1-2 Amagaju
[Stade de Kigali]
Isonga 0-1 Marines [Kicukiro]

Title favourites Police enhanced their hunt for silverware with a 2-1 win over rivals SC Kiyovu in a Primus National Football league yesterday at Amahoro stadium.

The hosts had the first break on play with Burundian international Laudit Mavugo picking up a set piece from Jacques Tuyisenge. He made no mistake but shot past SC Kiyovu goalie to snatch an opener.

Towards recess, Ibrahim Ndikumasabo doubled the lead from Phizi Hakizimana’s brilliant long-piece.

The second half was largely quiet until the 90th minute when Djabir Mutarambirwa scored a consolation goal for the old giants.

The win extended Police’s lead at the summit of the PNFL with 38 points in 18 matches played this season.

The win sets the law enforcers a four points’ cushion over second placed Mukura who rested this weekend.

Elsewhere, Marines stopped Isonga’s winning spree with a 1-0 win at Kicukiro turf, while Etincelles grabbed a 1-0 win over relegation battling Espoir at Umuganda stadium.

Nyanza managed a 2-1 win over La Jeunesse at Mumena stadium, while Amagaju stunned AS Kigali to a 2-1 victory at Stade de Kigali.

Despite the win, Nyanza and Espoir are still locked in the relegation zone with 16 and 6 points, respectively.
