POLICE are not prepared to lose their goal machine Meddie Kagere, according to club president Alphonse Katarebe.
The striker, who topped the scoring charts at last year’s Cecafa Challenge Cup in Dar-es-Salaam, has been linked with a move to Ethiopia’s St. George and Kenya’s Gor Mahia in the on-going transfer window.
However, Katarebe yesterday affirmed that the club would be holding onto the player until the end of the season.
“Kagere is not just a vital player for us, he is also our captain and we want to build a strong team around him,” he said.
“You can’t build a strong team when you are losing your best players so he is staying at the club.”
With Kagere’s contract running out in July, Police are said to be tabling a new offer for the Amavubi forward.
Katarebe, however, said that the club was ready to listen to offers from Europe.
