APR vs URA – (friendly match)
APR will play a friendly against Uganda Revenue Authority tomorrow afternoon as they continue to shape up for the Orange CAF Champions League. The league champions will play Kenya’s Tusker in the preliminary round of the lucrative tournament.
According to the club Secretary General, Adophe Kalisa, today’s match is the first of many friendlies APR will play before clashing with the Kenyan champions.
“URA is one of the top sides in the region and should give us a good challenge. Over the years, we (APR) have struggled in this competition (Orange CAF Champions League) so we are doing everything we can to make sure we go the distance this year,” the official said.
Initially, Ernie Brandts’ side was scheduled to play Isonga on the same day but it has now been confirmed that the Primus league fixture has been postponed.
Last season, APR crashed out in the first round after losing to Tunisia’s Club Africain (2-6) on aggregates. The previous year, DRC’s TP Mazembe ejected the army side in the second round of the competition.
