Thousands of Christians, yesterday, thronged various churches around Kigali to attend New Year’s service.
During the day’s sermon, Pastor Antoine Rutayisire of Remera Anglican Church, asked his congregation to usher in 2012, with renewed zeal to serve God better.
“This is time to reflect on the gains made during the past year and set targets for the new year… we should all aim at contributing to the continued transformation of our country,” Rutayisire said.
He asked the faithful to become better citizens in 2012.
Penelope Mukamurigo, who attended prayers at Remera Anglican Church said: “I came here purposely to thank God for enabling me and my family to complete 2011 in good health.”
Father Innocent Consolateur of Regina Pacis Catholic Church asked the congregation to always be God-fearing citizens and be characterized by love, and to fight against any form of divisionism.
“I encourage you to play a key role in the development of our nation and be exemplary in all aspects of life,” Priest Consolateur said.
He asked them to be people of integrity and to work hard, saying that will not only help them spiritually, but also help the country economically.
