The envisaged partnership, between the East African Community and the United States of America, to foster, regional trade is yet another sign that EAC is on the right path.
As an East African, I understand that the more agreements we sign with other states, the better for our regional economy and traders. Partnerships are critical in increasing market opportunities and improving people’s standards of living.
However, our negotiators should ensure that such agreements normally translate into a significant step up since some are simply forgotten to gather dust on the shelves. Again, there is need to explore more markets in the West, as a way of enhancing economic partnerships.
