Rwanda vs Ghana (4pm)

RWANDA’s hopes of sneaking into the quarter-finals of the on-going Fiba-Africa Women basketball Championships were squandered after Wednesday’s 49-59 defeat against two-time champions Nigeria.

The team marched into their last Group (B) game with a target of causing an upset and looked like they were on course after winning the first quarter 17-10. But all that filtered into the air after losing the second, third and fourth quarters by 11-19, 07-09 and 14-21 points.

Nigeria guard Joyce Ekworomadu top scored for the West Africans with 10 points and six rebounds while Nkechi Akashili weighed in with nine points and four rebounds.

Nigeria, who finished third behind Senegal and Angola will now play Mozambique in today’s quarter final.Rwanda faces Ghana in the battle for 9th place.
