NYAGATARE- The Ministry of Public Service and Labour, through the Department of Labour Promotion, has embarked on a labour census in Nyagatare District.
According to Leandre Turayishimye, in charge of labour promotion in the ministry, the census seeks to help the government in its planning and evaluation of labour in the country.
“This department was created in the ministry to collect the exact statistics of jobs and the rate of employment in the country. The census will also facilitate the government in its labour planning processes,” he said.
The census will be conducted in all public and private institutions in the district and will start from institutions which employ at least five staff members.
Turayishimye called on institutions in the district to be cooperative and provide them with proper details during the census.
