APR lifts Primus Cup

Yesterday, final APR  3-1  AS Kigali Third-place play-off Police  1-0  La Jeunesse TWELVE-time league champion APR won their first trophy of the season after a 3-1 victory over AS Kigali in the final of the Primus Cup tournament played yesterday at Amahoro stadium. A brace from Selemani Ndikumana and Papy Faty, both new signings helped the military side to their first trophy this season ahead of the busy 2011/12 season, which officially gets underway on Saturday.

TWELVE-time league champion APR won their first trophy of the season after a 3-1 victory over AS Kigali in the final of the Primus Cup tournament played yesterday at Amahoro stadium.

A brace from Selemani Ndikumana and Papy Faty, both new signings helped the military side to their first trophy this season ahead of the busy 2011/12 season, which officially gets underway on Saturday.

Bodo Ndikumana scored the consolation goal for AS Kigali.

In the battle for third-place play-off, Police defeated La Jeunesse 1-0 in a game which was played earlier in the afternoon.

On top of the trophy, APR went home with the winner’s cash prize worth Rwf 5m, while AS Kigali and Police pocketed Rwf 3m and Rwf 1m respectively.

The Primus pre-season tournament is the curtain raiser to the new league season which is scheduled to kick off over the weekend.

Bralirwa as the official sponsor injected Rwf 17 million towards the organization of this tournament which attracted eight teams.
