NGORORERO- Women in Ngororero District are participating in activities to promote education, including preparing land for the construction of six classrooms under the new 12-year education program at Ruhunga Catholic Primary School.
Over 300 women participated in the exercise, the first of its kind in the district, valued at Rwf350.000.
Caritas Zirakundwa, the head of the women’s team, said that they are fully committed in participating in education-based activities in the area.
“This is a sign that women are part of the development process. We shall do all the best to lay a good foundation for the education of our children,” Zirakundwa said.
The benefiting students and teachers said that the activity offered hope to the development of education in the area.
“I am now assured of joining the advanced level of education. It is good that my community has contributed to this opportunity which will serve more students in the future,” said Valentina Mukarukundo, one of the students.
Ngororero vice Mayor, Coltilda Nyiraneza, hailed the women, saying they had demonstrated their willingness to be part of development and social transformation.
The group of women and local leaders celebrated the conclusion of the event with dance and songs as they reaffirmed their commitment to community development.
