Editor,

Allow me to react to a story that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes titled: “APR out of Kagame Cup.” As an APR fan, I am deeply concerned by the state of affairs in a team I have supported for the past 15 years or so.

I can’t imagine that APR only managed a single win in the Group stage against minnows Sports of Djibouti. We can’t sit back and pretend that all is well.

The club enjoys a wide fan base and has one of the best players, but of late, they have lacked a winning sprit. If nothing is done quickly to improve the team, APR will lose many fans to other clubs.

The players should realise that dominating the local league is not enough. They should work harder and compete in the region and on the continent.

I think it’s high time we as APR fans realised that something is wrong with the club. I could not believe that we were only good enough for the group stages of the Cecafa/ Kagame club championship.
