You are probably one of the lovers of the famous movie "Sound of Music"; but know little about the history of Von Trapp Family.
All casts in "Sound of Music" movie are all still alive and have blessed their generations with music and fame.
This is really good news! Latest on our showbiz is that of America’s famous family in the world of music, the Von Trapp Children. The group is finally in Rwanda and is staying, Ruhengeri.
The group jetted into the "Land of a thousand Hills" two weeks ago and caused massive excitements all over. In an interview with The New Times at Kigali Serena hotel, the group had this to say about Rwanda:
"This is our first trip in Africa and particularly in Rwanda a country we her admired. We are currently staying in Ruhengeri, at Son Rise School, where we are teaching children music and computer.
Life in Rwanda is natural and beautiful, said the seemingly leader of the group Sophia Von Trapp. It’s extraordinary clean and peaceful. We would love to stay forever."
Their visit to Rwanda is a major boost for Rwanda’s tourism and entertainment industry that is slowly growing.
The group is made up of the Von Trapp Family of four members, i.e. three girls and one boy, aged between: 13-19.
With a sense of humour and charming smile, Amanda, 16, said "We love the people and the milk."
The group also said the movie "Sound of Music" gives an almost Rwandan experience because it was about the Genocide that was done on Jews.
In really life, Sophia said that Captain Von Trapp married Maria (main actors in the movie) and they have three children, who are also their grandparents.
So far, Von Trapp Children have successfully released five DVDs with debuts albums. Their latest album is called ACAPPELA (music without instruments).
In 2006, the group was awarded the ("Best Young Artists") of the year.
"We are in the country for another two weeks; we shall be traveling back home because we are preparing ourselves for an extraordinary concert, in April 17," said Merlyn.
