The second annual Miss East Africa Paris event was held over the weekend with Rwandan model Shelina Scaravelli emerging the winner.

The three finalists were drawn from Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda.

The gala was hosted by representatives of the East African Community with officials from all country Consular and Diplomatic missions based in Paris.

The event, sponsored by Kenya Airways, courtesy of Madam Greta Swings, the local KQ manager, turned out to be an incredible success.

Director of Press and Communications for East Africa France, Cleopatra Mukula said: "We are such a minority group here in Paris. Therefore, events like these are very important to us.

It’s also a wonderful opportunity for people to connect and network at a cultural and business level."

East Africans living in Paris showed solidarity cheering on their respective models, whose make up was done by Blackup PARIS- a make up brand for people of colour, who have just opened their first outlet at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s duty free shops in Kenyan’s capital, Nairobi.

Ms Scaravelli's future as the Face of East Africa in Paris looks bright.

The prizes were sponsored by Kenya Airways, La Nuit Africaine Paris, Bank of Africa and Blackup Paris. Daily Nation.
